Project Izyum. Restoration: Is it possible to implement it now?
As a result of the war, all cities and villages in Ukraine have suffered greatly, and the city of Izium is no exception. Completely destroyed, it needs to be rebuilt.
To achieve this, a project called Izium. Recovery is planned.
The goal of the project is to restore the city of Izium, as well as other cities in Ukraine that have been affected by the war.
The project promotes the involvement of the community in the restoration and rebuilding of the city, as well as creating a horizontal communication model between community representatives, various municipalities, and engaged experts. The ideas and developments of the project are universal and can be applied anywhere in Ukraine.
The project involves architects, municipal experts, and representatives of the Izium community.

A common feature of these projects is to unite people so that everyone contributes collectively to the restoration of the affected territories.
Here is how municipal experts characterize their own project:
"We are open to collaboration with partners and strive to help you bring your ideas to life. Join our ongoing projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the city of Izium."
And here is how the architects describe their project:
"We are open to partnerships that can help make the IZYUM_recovery project visible in Ukraine and the Creative Europe countries, as well as facilitate its scaling and implementation, following the values of the New European Bauhaus."

This planned project appears to be very successful and feasible for implementation. Similar projects are very much needed to help revive cities destroyed by the occupiers.
In my opinion, the concept of this project is brilliant and grand: creating a residential quarter for the city of Izium and other cities is very important.
But is it possible to implement the project, for example, for the recovery of Izium?
First, although the project is well planned, it needs to be realized only after the war ends so that the work is effective.
Because whatever is built will be immediately destroyed by the occupiers.
Second, if such a project is to be implemented, it needs to be financed; unfortunately, due to the current scarcity of funds, the project may not take place.
However, there are ways out of this situation:
1. Charitable organizations and foundations can fund this project.
2. Involving foreign experts and investors will also help in financing the project.
3. Participation in grant programs can help increase funding.
To implement the future project, we can base it on the strategy of the Izium. Recovery project, as this project has a good strategy for 2026.
Here is what representatives of the project say:
"With this project, we want to convey to the residents of the region that together with funding from the local budget, they can use their small contributions to influence the development of the city and make it successful. Additionally, residents will learn about new approaches to sustainable urban development and innovative green technologies that are already being successfully integrated in other European countries."
If all people are united, the chances for the restoration of Ukrainian cities will increase, and the recovery will proceed more quickly. Involving the local population will help in this noble cause.
The goal is not to present optimal solutions, but to find a concrete strategy that can be immediately used to implement measures for sustainable urban development in the Kharkiv region.
Thanks to this approach, planners and engineers become sensitive to future climatic challenges in the region and gather basic information about tools and measures to enhance climate resilience and social awareness regarding this. Additionally, the methodological and practical experience will have a good chance of being transferred to other regions with similar structures.
The project concept is very effective, but its implementation should only occur after the war ends, to ensure a good outcome from this noble endeavor.
Currently, unfortunately, it is not feasible. But we believe that this project will help restore the cities of Ukraine!
