As a result of an explosion in the Balakliia community, a man with injuries was taken to the hospital for medical assistance.

This was reported on the official Facebook page of the Izium Police.

In the morning of June 18, the police department of the Izium District received a report that a man had detonated an explosive device in the village of Bairak.

An investigative and operational group was dispatched to the scene. Law enforcement established that the man had decided to go fishing and accidentally stepped on an explosive device, which detonated.

Information regarding this incident has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 1 of Article 438 (war crimes) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Law enforcement warns and urges citizens to adhere to safety rules when discovering items resembling ammunition, as it is more relevant than ever in today's realities.

What to do if you find an explosive device?

1. Stay calm, do not panic.

2. Do not approach or touch it, and do not move the object.

3. Stop all activities: halt the movement of people and vehicles nearby.

4. Move to a safe location, secure the area, and do not allow anyone near until specialists arrive.

5. Call 101 and 102 immediately to report the suspicious item to rescuers and law enforcement.

6. Do not light fires or use open flames near the find.

7. Do not use radios, mobile phones, or any other devices that transmit radio signals near the explosive device.
