On the birthday of Taras Shevchenko, the memory of the fallen was honored in Izyum by laying flowers and bowing their heads in a moment of silence.

On March 9 in Izium, representatives of the local administration and city residents gathered at the Taras Shevchenko monument to honor the memory of those who perished, specifically to lay flowers and pay tribute to Taras Shevchenko.

This was reported on the official Facebook page of the Izium City Military Administration.

However, this event is remembered not only as the birthday of the famous poet; on this day, there was an airstrike by Russian troops on a residential building on Pamiati Street 2. Many civilians were in the basements at the time, and unfortunately, they all perished as the building was destroyed.

About 50 people were killed, including children, entire families, and elderly individuals.
