A teacher from Izium has won silver at the ultramarathon championship in the Czech Republic.

From July 24 to 26, 2026, an open championship in the Czech Republic for 24-hour and 48-hour running took place in the city of Kladno.

This information was shared on the official Facebook page of the Izyum City Military Administration.

Our community was represented in the 48-hour race by Viktor Shkarlet, a physical education teacher at Lypchany Lyceum.

The conditions of the competition were a serious challenge for all athletes during the abnormal heat. Despite suffering a knee injury during the race and experiencing a decline in health, Viktor did not withdraw from the distance and completed the race.

Over the course of two days, our fellow countryman covered 190 kilometers. This result allowed him to secure 21st place in the overall standings and win a silver medal in his age category (60-69 years).
