Kharkiv lawyer Anatoliy Tarasenko is convinced that the aggressor country can be brought to justice even now, in times of war. A precedent could be a trial against the Russian Federation and its leadership for compensation for material and moral damages in claims stemming from the missile attack on the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine (NALSU) and its headquarters in Kharkiv on January 23, 2024.
The NALS has already filed a lawsuit for damages.
The Kharkiv territorial community, represented by the Kharkiv City Council, has also filed a claim for damages caused to the community by this particular episode of aggression.
Anatoliy Tarasenko believes that with this lawsuit, Kharkiv has opened its judicial and financial front, which aims to materially ruin the aggressor.
Anatoliy Tarasenko, a well-known lawyer and attorney, head of the NGO "Private Palace of Justice", told about this in the author's program #Know More on the air of the Kharkiv Press Club.
Kharkiv lawyers intend to use the courts to ensure the security guarantees that Ukraine has received under existing international and Ukrainian law.
