Psychologists often define the pillars of mental survival and inner light through three core elements. Today, as Ukraine fights for its existence, these points sound different—they are a manifesto of our defiance:

A Cause You Love (Something to Do). In wartime, this is more than a hobby; it is your "safe harbor." Whether it's volunteering that provides a sense of control, or regular work that maintains a link to civilian life. Think about this and allow yourself even a few minutes today to engage in something that refills you. This is not guilt—it is your fuel to keep helping others. Even a short walk or a minute with a book is a contribution to your own endurance.

A Person You Love (Someone to Love). This is the most painful point. War has scattered families across the globe and separated many forever. Many hearts ache with anxiety for those in the trenches or under shelling. Remember: love is also a weapon. Whether it's a child, a parent, a brother-in-arms, or a fellow volunteer—if you can, send a quick "How are you?". If there's no connection, just hold that warmth inside. This light is something the enemy can never confiscate.

Hope for the Future (Something to Hope for). Our main fortress. It is hard to plan when the horizon has narrowed to the next air raid siren. But hope in Ukraine today isn't an illusion; it’s a stubborn decision to believe that life will triumph over death. The darkest hour is just before the dawn. Our hope rests on the resilience of every single one of us.

How do we "paint" the future with bright spots while the struggle continues? Through small steps. If you can't plan a year, plan three days. What will be your small victory this weekend? A coffee run, helping a neighbor, or watching an old movie—these aren't trifles; they are proof that we are alive.

Step by step, we move toward our great shared joy. What bright spot can you see today, even at arm's length?
