Ukraine's vast deposits of critically important minerals are of interest not only to the United States but also to Russia.
This is what the famous science reporter Richard Stone writes about in his latest report from Ukraine in the latest issue of the popular magazine Science.
He points out that in late June, Russian troops advanced into the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, seizing several more square kilometers of land and a significant lithium deposit.
