Do you know what a Vytautas tulka is? What about Shyrokivska plachinda or Cossack shcherba? Have you ever cooked putra and kropenyky?

All of these dishes have been featured in the Tasty Ukraine project, which was launched by Hromada.Group. “Tasty Ukraine” introduces Ukrainian regional cuisine, which has retained its authenticity despite the winds.

 

Every week, Tasty Ukraine presents the culinary heritage of a particular region, the special taste preferences of this land and unique family recipes passed down from generation to generation, which claim to be the intangible heritage of the region.

 

The inspiration and initiator of this project is Daria Shvets, a gastronomic enthusiast, collector of old recipes of Ukrainian traditional cuisine, and journalist.

 

How did you come up with the idea of this kind of gastronomic guide that draws a culinary map of Ukraine and introduces the culinary traditions of its various parts? Why is the revival of traditional local dishes so important today, during the war, when we are defending ourselves as a nation?
