Victory Day in the Chinese people's war of resistance against Japanese invaders and in the global anti-fascist war is officially and quite extensively celebrated in the PRC on September 3. This year, it is not just a date, but an 80th anniversary.
What do we know about World War II in China? Practically nothing. Your reviewer, who studied many years ago, does not remember these events being covered in school history classes. To be honest, I don't know if they are now.
The events in the Far East are too distant from our European tragedy associated with Hitler's invasion.
But now, in the age of globalization and a new terrible geopolitical confrontation, which began on our continent with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, one cannot help but feel the historical connection between events, which unexpectedly inflates the present with the hidden malice of old political grudges, a thirst for revenge, and militaristic fervor.
