When two powerful explosions occurred in Vladivostok near Desantnaya Bay on May 30 in the morning, as a result of a successful operation by the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, few observers mentioned the historical parallel: The Far Eastern Ukrainian People's Republic. And, by the way, May 30 is the day of its independence.
The Far Eastern Ukrainian People's Republic is not a joke figure of speech, like the “BNR” and “KurNR” that our witty fellow citizens use to refer to the area of combat operations in the Russian-Ukrainian war. But it is a real historical fact.
One hundred years ago, Ukrainians made up more than 80% of the population of the Far East (I think that even today, at least half of them remember their Ukrainian roots in one way or another, even if they call themselves “Russians” in the censuses).
