Why do I choose the word “stunning” to describe these memoirs? Is it possible to surprise us with memories of World War II after school lessons, university lectures, old and new documentary and feature films? And even against the backdrop of the tragedy that we, Ukrainians, are experiencing today, trying to live righteously and resist the terrible aggression in Europe, unseen since World War II…

The author's personality is stunning - a hereditary Polish aristocrat, a refined intellectual. Most importantly, this fragile and at the same time strong woman gives us an example of exactly this - a righteous life under tragic circumstances and tireless resistance to evil in a situation when it seems as if Evil is winning.
