Climate shock is not a picture of the apocalypse from a science fiction thriller, but a term that is increasingly appearing in scientific reports, international climate strategies, and our lives.
The abnormal heat, sudden floods, and storms we have been witnessing lately
are not just extreme weather events, but signs of systemic change.
Have climate shocks become the new normal for Ukraine? How do natural ecosystems respond to these stresses? Does humanity have time to adapt to them? What is the role of academic science in developing adaptive strategies?
These are the questions discussed in the conversation of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Semynozhenko with a climatologist, leading researcher at the Subbotin Institute of Geophysics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Geographical Sciences Svitlana Boychenko in the program "About Science. Competently" program.
