View from Kharkiv: “the question at the referendum in Moldova should have been put differently...”

As you know, Moldova has held presidential elections and a referendum on the country's constitutional course on joining the European Union. Since none of the 11 presidential candidates won more than 50%, the country will hold elections again on November 3.
Pro-European Maya Sandu and Alexander Stoianoglo, candidate of the pro-Russian Party of Socialists, will meet in the second round.
Sandu finished first in the first round of the October 20 presidential election, but the result counted by the CEC (42.49% of the vote) carries intrigue over her retention of the presidency.
Her opponent, Socialist Party candidate Alexandre Stoianoglo, received 25.95%.
The referendum on European integration, which was held on the same day as the election, proved an even bigger problem. In the referendum, almost half of the voters voted against moving to the EU.
This is an incredibly high number!
