The Blown-Up Residence on the Threshold of 2026: Is a Storm Brewing?

On the eve of the New Year 2026, global media outlets—ranging from CNN and The Guardian to Reuters—are focused on a strange contrast: a festive atmosphere clashing with the chilling sensation that the world stands on the precipice of grand and not altogether benevolent changes.
While the tone in official media remains cautiously optimistic, social media platforms (X, TikTok) are dominated by the "Last Normal Year" trend. People feel that 2026 will bring intense political turbulence and are urging one another to "just relax and switch off the news for these two days."
That is sound advice, but not for Ukrainians. "Switch off the news?" For any of us, the attempt to tune out reports of incoming enemy missiles and "Shahed" drones could prove, quite literally, fatal.
