The premiere of “Macbeth” in Kiev was immediately overshadowed by the diplomatic disaster that erupted that same day between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump at the White House. The director seems to want to direct the comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” but “it’s impossible not to think about politics, war and spymen today.” Viewers draw parallels between Shakespeare's characters and current characters. For some, Macbeth guesses the bloody dictator in Moscow.
For others, this is a current story of ambition, power and health.
Political ideas are being developed at an accelerated rate, some statements supersede others and no one knows how to calm the heart. Or maybe we don’t need to know? Even words shake the wind, but in reality they shake the goals of the state.
