“It seems like he's gone somewhere. You just can't call him...” Milana Skoryk about her father

The opera Moses, ballet, Requiem, concerts, works for orchestra and ensembles. His brilliant music, which has become part of the world's musical treasury, is performed by the best orchestras in many countries.

Music for the legendary Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors and more than forty other films. Melodies for theater performances. The unforgettable “Don't Trample on Lilies of the Valley” - the first Ukrainian twist and “Draw Me a Night”, which became the first sprouts of national pop music that he launched.

Pianist. A conductor. A wise teacher. Musicologist. A world-renowned composer.  An artist who had many high titles and awards, but he considered the greatest reward to be the performance of his works by street musicians, because it is popular recognition.

A true genius, simple and easy to communicate with. This is how everyone who knew him remembers him.

And what was the Maestro like at home, with his friends, outside of his intense composing and on the big stage?

This is the subject of a conversation with Myroslav Skoryk's daughter, Milana Skoryk, a decorative fabric painting artist, whom we met in Lviv, where she came from Kyiv to commemorate the anniversary of her father's death, who is buried in the Lychakiv Cemetery.

The conversation took place at the home of Solomiya Krushelnytska, who is the composer's great-aunt and sister of his grandmother Olena. In Krushelnytska's apartment on the second floor, near the very piano that the famous opera singer made her famous “verdict” after Myroslav played it as a six-year-old: he had an absolute ear for music! This was the beginning of his journey to the top of the musical art he has been creating with inspiration throughout his life and to the world stage.
