The media have already reported that a 32-year-old Ukrainian soldier, Yanis Tereshchenko, saved the life of a young man with multiple stab wounds during a three-day vacation with his wife and 6-year-old son in Venice. Local media reporting on the incident initially called the rescuer a “Russian tourist,” but then quickly clarified that he was a Ukrainian soldier.
Venice Mayor Luigi Bruniaro invited the Ukrainian defender to the mayor's office in gratitude for his courage and indifference and presented him with an award.
