Today, on July 1, Volodymyr Vakulenko (1972-1922), a children's writer, translator, poet, volunteer, and public figure from Kapitolivka, Kharkiv region, would have turned 53. The Russian occupiers killed him for his pro-Ukrainian position.
They kidnapped Volodymyr Vakulenko, threw him into a torture chamber, subjected him to inhuman torture before his execution, stripped him to find a trident on his body, broke his fingers, and then shot him. The mutilated and shot body of the children's writer was left by the roadside by inhumans...
After Izyum's liberation, his body was identified among the mass graves in the forest in grave number 319.
He was a talented children's writer. Author of thirteen books. A man who loved Ukraine and his native Kapitolivka with all his heart. A devoted father who raised a child with special needs himself.
Let's remember Volodymyr Vakulenko together with Oleksandra Papina, co-founder and organizer of the Kalmius Literary Festival, in which the children's writer participated many times and who shared a friendly relationship.
