A breakthrough in molecular biology. Previously, it was believed that our appearance and susceptibility to disease were determined by our genome, and that this genetic code could not be changed. However, this view has now been challenged by a new field of science: epigenetics.
What is epigenetics, what mechanisms of the human body can it explain, how does it help fight cancer, why has so-called “junk” RNA become the subject of intense research, and how are innovative medicines created?
