Starting from 1 January 2025, all institutes of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (NAMSU) will be part of the single healthcare space and will be funded not separately, as it is now, but exclusively under the Medical Guarantee Programme administered by the National Health Service of Ukraine.

To make such funding possible, the Academy's state institutions should be transformed into state non-profit enterprises.

The transformation of the NAMS institutions should be completed by the end of this year.

What will be the benefits of joining the Academy's institutions involved in the provision of specialised medical care to the medical guarantee programme?  Are the Academy's institutions ready to be contracted by the NHSU? Will Ukrainians be left without highly qualified medical services? And most importantly, how will science be funded? And will it be funded at all?

This was discussed in the interview of Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Volodymyr Semynozhenko with the President of the Academy of Medical Sciences, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Vitaliy Tsymbalyuk in the programme ‘About Science. Competently’ programme on the YouTube channel of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
