We are walking along the corridor of one of the most famous universities in the city. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv has suffered significant damage from Russian shelling: a number of buildings of the educational institution were damaged.

The enemy did not spare several million dollars, destroying the premises of the institution with missiles. The Metropolis Data Transfer and Technology Center was opened at the university shortly before the Russian invasion. It was a place for young people to socialize, to hold master classes for them , and for teachers and students - to collaborate with scientists from around the world. Now it is gone. The rector of the university, Volodymyr Babayev, summarizes these sad results. There were eight dormitories in the university structure, and now only two are functioning. The rest are damaged. Now only 28 students live in them, and before the invasion there were 2500 students. Two other institutions of the university are waiting for students to return: the Housing and Communal Services College and the Educational and Research Institute of Construction and Civil Engineering. About 1000 students aged 14 to 17 studied at the Housing and Communal Services College every year. The war deprived future accountants, landscape architects, and hotel workers of the opportunity to study in these premises. Everything was destroyed: departments, modern laboratories, an international center equipped with modern technology ! The area of destruction was about 7 thousand square meters, which is almost eight football fields! If we estimate only the material damage, we are talking about hundreds of millions of hryvnias. However, Ukrainian youth are not deterred by Russian barbarism. Students are involved in the process of rebuilding their alma mater. And this gives them confidence in the future. And today, we need to document the crimes committed by Russia against the institution.

The university museum has already displayed exhibits that will remind future generations of the price of our freedom.
