The last few days in the information space have been filled with tragic reports from the front line. Several authoritative Ukrainian military observers, who have been covering the situation on the front line for more than two years and whom we have grown accustomed to trusting, have gone on the air with bad news.
The media, as usual, fueled the desperate news with headlines like “Ukrainian Armed Forces retreated tens of kilometers”. It's hard to get past that headline!
The media's pursuit of audience growth is understandable, as this is our “bread and butter” in the information market, but let's not forget that we should never take news based on what their editors put in the headlines. Advice to readers: be sure to read or listen to the entire message/commentary. Only then can you expect to really know what is happening. And during the war, information means a lot, both for the safety of your families and for making important decisions.
